North County Forum - San Diego County Promoting progressive causes, education and culture since 1997

North County Forum is an umbrella organization which puts liberals and progressives in North San Diego County together with each other, with resources, events, organizations, and information, especially political and antiwar. Founded in 1997, we have an active e-mail list, and occasional speakers, films, forums and panels on issues of importance. We have also sponsored demonstrations against local gay-bashing, immigrant-bashing, the death penalty, the war on Iraq.

Our biggest event each year is Letters to the Editor Awards Night, when we celebrate the best and worst of more than 6,000 letters published each year in the North County Times, which has a unique policy of publishing every letter that conforms to their guidelines (no more than every two weeks, no libel, obscenity, etc). This creates a virtually community of regular writers and readers on all sides of many subjects. Six voice actors rehearse and present the script, which is written by the Letters Committee. 2008 was our 11th Annual Letters Night, and drew about 160 people. This event is held each year in late January or early February. Check back for info on next year's program.
